On May 7, 2023, a Miami nightclub shooting claimed the life of rapper Young Lo, whose real name was Lowell Grissom. Reports suggest that the 37-year-old musician was shot and killed while relaxing at the Gala club in Miami at around 4 a.m. ET. Despite being rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital, Young Lo was pronounced dead soon after his arrival.
While two other women were also wounded in the attack, they are expected to recover from their injuries fully. The incident appears to have been a targeted attack on Young Lo, according to a source.
Young Lo had become a well-known figure in the music industry, having collaborated with popular artists such as Chris Brown. Young Lo was serving as an A R for Hitmaka’s MakaSound label. In the hours following his death, numerous artists shared heartfelt condolences and messages on his Instagram post.
Young Lo had moved from California to Miami, and he is survived by his six-year-old son. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting at the time of writing, and a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help cover Young Lo’s funeral expenses.
