For nearly 16 years, Janene Reed, a 51-year-old woman from New Jersey, has been growing her nails to an impressive 13-14″ in length. Growing up in a strict household where makeup, nail polish, and dyed hair were forbidden, Janene found her way to express herself as an adult through growing her nails. She began growing her nails in early 2007 and hasn’t stopped since. Her favourite nail design involves attaching colourful buttons to her nails, a trend she started in 2019. Despite the stares and judgement she receives, Janene appreciates the negativity as it sets her apart. She’s a member of the Long Nail Goddesses, a group of women addicted to growing their nails, some up to 20″ in length.
